What Are We Believing About Ourselves?
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
We challenge the private beliefs that shape our choices and ask what we truly believe about ourselves when no one is watching. We trade self-confidence with a ceiling for biblical confidence rooted in what God says, then practice renewing our minds with Scripture.
• asking what we believe about ourselves in private
• contrasting self-belief with confidence through Christ
• learning from Moses that God’s presence matters most
• connecting attitude and identity to what we think daily
• renewing the mind by guarding what we feed it
• using Philippians 4:8 as a filter for focus
• rejecting the idea that thoughts are always facts
• replacing lies with truth through 2 Corinthians 10:5
• refusing to let our worst moment name us
• seeing Peter’s failure become testimony not identity
• separating positive thinking from biblical thinking
• repeating truth statements about who God is

Opening Manifesto On Changing The World
SPEAKER_00It is to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the ones who see the world differently, who don't fit neatly into boxes, and refuse to live by someone else's script. You can quote them, you can disagree with them, you can glorify them, or vilify them, you can shake your head at their ideas or be inspired by their courage. But the one thing you cannot do is ignore them. Because they change things. They disrupt what's comfortable, they challenge what's normal, and they push the human race forward. Sometimes with loud revolutions, sometimes with quiet persistence that changes everything over time. They see possibility where others see limits. They dare to dream out loud when the world tells them to be silent. They take risks, they stumble, they rise again, and they keep going. Not because it's easy, but because they can't imagine doing anything else. These are the ones who remind us that every great leap forward was once considered impossible. So here's to them the ones who won't sit down, won't be quiet, and won't stop until the world is different. Because they're the reason it will be.
SPEAKER_02They thought it would give me energy. Some of them can steal your focus, your peace, your identity, your soul, and even your life. I'll try your future for a temporary escape. Freedom starts with true.
SPEAKER_01So without further ado, here's B Rama.
What Do You Believe About You
SPEAKER_03Hey guys, it's B Rob. It's another Food for Thought Faith Cast. And today is another beautiful day. And those intros were great, were they not? Yeah. So guys, welcome back to another Food for Thought Faith Cast. Um, today, man, I've been thinking a lot. So you're gonna get some thinking stuff, and we're gonna make you think a little bit. But today I want to start out with a simple question. What do you believe about yourself? What do you believe about yourself? Not what you tell people, not what you post on social media, not what you say when somebody asks, How are you doing? I'm talking about that conversation that happens between you and yourself when nobody else is around. What do you believe about yourself? I mean, I know I talk to myself all the time. I mean, maybe you're not one of those guys. Do you believe in yourself? Do you believe you're capable? Do you believe that your life has a purpose, or are you just going at full speed with no purpose? Do you believe that God can actually use you? Or it is using you? Or has the world gotten to you and somewhere along the way you started believing that you're not enough, that you made too many mistakes, that you're too far behind, that you're just going through the motions, that someone else is maybe more gifted, more qualified, more spiritual, more disciplined, more deserving than you. But I have a food for thought today for you.
Self Confidence Versus God Confidence
SPEAKER_03What you actually believe actually affects how you live. And I'm going to take it even further and even deeper with Scripture because biblical confidence isn't simply looking in the mirror and saying, I believe in myself. Hopefully, today you'll walk away with some biblical confidence, not just believing in yourself. And biblical confidence says, I believe what God says about me. You see, there is a huge difference there. Huge. One is self-belief, and then one is God belief. The world tells us to believe in ourself. Believe in yourself. And there's certainly value in having confidence, but eventually you're going to encounter something bigger than your ability. Eventually, something in your life is going to come your way that your ability will not be able to handle. Eventually, your strength will run out. Eventually, your wisdom won't be enough. Eventually you're going to look in the mirror, and where you're used to saying, I've got this, that's not going to do it for you. That's why biblical confidence has a foundation, whereas the other one does not. If you look at Philippians 4 13, Paul says, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Notice what he does not say. He does not say, I can do anything because I'm amazed. Or I can do anything because of my ability. He says, through Christ. That's a huge difference. Because that means your confidence isn't ultimately in yourself. Your confidence is the one working through you. Your creator.
Moses And The Question You Miss
SPEAKER_03Think about Moses. Think about when God called Moses. And Moses immediately started explaining why he was not the guy. He was like, Who am I? What if they don't believe me? I'm not eloquent. I'm slow of speech. Moses had a whole list of why he was not the guy. You see? Isn't that exactly what we do? Isn't that exactly who we are? We're like Moses. We have a whole list of excuses. You see, when God puts something on our heart, we immediately start presenting our list, our resume of inadequacy. Well, God, I'm not really qualified to do that. God, I don't know enough for that. God, somebody else could do this better. God, you know my past. I ain't good enough. Moses even said, Who am I? And you see, God's answer is essential. Like air, like breath, like food, like water. God says, I will be with you. That's power. Because God doesn't spend the conversation trying to inflate Moses' ego. He doesn't sit there and say, Oh, yeah, you are. No, you're perfect. You'll do great. No. God says, I will be with you. He gives Moses something better than self-confidence. He gives Moses his presence. So maybe you've been like Moses and asking the wrong question the whole time. Instead of, am I good enough? Maybe the question is, is God with me? Because let me tell you something. If God called you to do something, your limitations don't automatically disqualify you. A lot of times that is the very place where his strength becomes visible. So be careful what you keep telling yourself. Let's connect the dots. Where does
Attitude Shapes You From Within
SPEAKER_03it come from? Where does it stem from? Where do the excuses come from? Where does the attitude? There we go. Attitude. Your mental attitude. Proverbs twenty-three, seven again contains a familiar thought. For a man thinketh in his heart, so he is. But let me tell you what faith can do. Faith can move mountains, faith can look directly at a bad situation and still say, but God. You see? That's the difference. That's the difference. It's like when David looked at Goliath and didn't pretend Goliath was small. He was huge, he was a giant. The threat was real, the danger was real. But David's perspective was different. Everyone else looked at Goliath and compared Goliath with the impossible. David said, it might be impossible, but God. But God. And then suddenly the giant did not look so big. And that's what we have to do. We have to renew our minds. What you're looking at doesn't change. What changes is the lens that you're looking through. Romans 12, 2 says, be you transformed by the renewing of your mind. So ask yourself, what are you feeding your mind? Let's look at the word transformed. God doesn't want you just to do right, he wants to transform your life. And part of that transformation happens through the renewing of your gatekeeper, your mind. So if you want to change something, what would you do? You're going to pay attention to what you're feeding it, right? If your dog's getting fat, you're going to pay attention to what you're doing, feeding it.
What You Feed Your Mind
SPEAKER_03If your cat gets sick, you're going to pay attention to what you're doing, what? Feeding it. I mean, you wouldn't put contaminated fuel into your car, would you? Expect it to run properly. Yet sometimes we contaminate our mind all day, every day with junk, with fear, fear-mongering junk all day. We even have it mobile now. We compare ourselves to other people all day. We get mad all day. We see bad news all day. We see other people's opinions all day. And then we wonder why we feel spiritually exhausted. What is our mind consuming? What are we feeding our gatekeeper? What voices have the loudest microphone in our life? Because whatever you constantly feed, your mind eventually begins to influence the way and how you think. And how you think influences how you respond. Look at Philippians 4:8. Things that are true, things that are honest, things that are just, things that are pure, things that are lovely, things that are of good report. Think of these things. I keep saying that. I keep using the same verses. We learn by repetition, right? We don't think on accident. We think intentionally. So Paul is intentionally saying you choose what gets your attention. You can't always choose what happens around you, but you can become much more intentional about what you allow in your mind. What you allow to live with you, what you allow through your gatekeeper. Because I'm going to tell you, 90% of the thoughts in your head never become to fruition. They never become true. Your thoughts aren't always the truth. And somebody may need to hear that today. Just because you thought it, just because you think it, just because that, it doesn't mean it's a fact. I mean, you you you tell yourself, oh, I'm never gonna change. Is that true? Write yourself a note to check that five years from now or a year from now. How many times have we told ourselves nobody cares about me? There may be some truth to that, but I can tell you Jesus cares about you, God cares about you, so it's not true. How many times we told ourselves I've ruined everything? Is that really true? Or God could never use me. Is that really true? Yeah. I could name 17 people easy to use that said that. Or I'm never gonna change, I'm always gonna be that way. Is that true? I don't know. Ask yourself in a year from now. You see, we have a tendency to treat our thoughts like they are facts, but Scripture tells us in 2 Corinthians 10
Your Thoughts Are Not Facts
SPEAKER_03verse 5 to bring thoughts into captivity. In other words, your thoughts don't get to run your life unchecked. Some thoughts need to be challenged, some thoughts need to be rejected, some thoughts need to be replaced with the actual truth. Like, I'm alone. That's a feeling, that's not a fact. Because the truth is, the Bible says, I will never leave thee, nor forsaken thee. That means he'll never leave you or forsaken you. So when your mind says, I can't handle this, remember what the truth is. God says, My grace is sufficient. When your mind says I'm too weak, remember what the truth is. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. When your past says that you are condemned and you are never going to be good enough, Romans 8:1 says, there is therefore now no condemnation to them which is in Christ Jesus. Basically, it says, as long as you believe in Jesus, as long as you have Jesus, you don't have condemnation. And when that fear says, what if everything falls apart? You have to remember what faith says, the Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. And you have to continue that. And you have to tell yourself those things over and over. That's the renewing of your mind. It's not some motivational fluff, it's replacing the enemy's lies with God's truth. So stop letting your worst day define you. A lot of us have built our identity by what the world says, of something that has happened to us, something we did,
Your Failure Is Not Your Name
SPEAKER_03a mistake, a failure, a divorce, an addiction, a financial mistake, a relationship, a season when we walked away from God. And then before you know it, without realizing it, that became our identity. Because we practiced it every day. But let me tell you this: your worst moment does not have any kind of authority to name you. I want you to look at Peter. Remember Peter. Peter. Peter denied Jesus three times. Imagine carrying that. Imagine carrying that burden. Yeah, imagine being that guy. And he even said, even if any, even if everyone else abandoned you, I won't. But the pressure came and Peter folded. Like a cheap lawn chair. He folded three times. Not just once, not just twice, but three times. You see, if Peter had allowed his failure to determine his future identity, his story could have ended right there. But no, Jesus restored him. And the man who denied him became one of the boldest voices to ever proclaim the name of Jesus. So I want you to think about that. Peter's failure became part of his testimony, but did not become his identity. You see, there's somebody listening right now that needed to hear that. There's somebody who needs that distinction. Your past can be part of your story without becoming the definition of the future. A failed chapter does not have to lead into another chapter. It's a big book. You see, God knew what Peter was going to do before he even called Peter. And that's what we don't understand. But yet God called him anyway. God knew what Moses was going to say even before he

SPEAKER_03called him. But God called him anyway. God knew David wasn't perfect, but God used him anyway. God knew Paul had a past, but God called him anyway. And let me tell you something. Right now, God knows every single thing about you. Before you even started drawing closer and closer to him. So don't let a bad day define you. Don't let today's worry
(Cont.) Your Failure Is Not Your Name
SPEAKER_03predict tomorrow's future. Because your attitude affects your direction. I mean, seriously, like let's talk about it practically. There are mornings when you're not
Preach To Yourself On Hard Days
SPEAKER_03going to feel motivated. There are mornings when you are going to be discouraged. There are seasons when you just feel like you can't do anything. And everything circumstance-wise generally hurts you. I mean, having a positive mental attitude from a biblical perspective doesn't mean you're going to walk around saying, oh yeah, everything's great. I'm just awesome. When everything isn't great, sometimes things are not great. Sometimes life hurts. Read Psalms. David wasn't afraid to say, God, this hurts. Where are you at? But you see, David had a pattern. He would acknowledge his circumstances and then remind himself of God's character. Psalm 42 gives us a good example. Why art thou cast down, O my soul? And why art thou disquieted in me? Hope thou in God. He's talking to himself. I do it all the time. David did it. Sometimes you've got to preach to yourself. Sometimes you have to tell your emotions that they are not going to win. It's okay to say you're real, but you ain't driving this car today. Sometimes you got to remind yourself that God has been faithful always. Now and forever. And tomorrow. You got to believe. But make sure you're believing in the right thing. You got to believe. You have to believe that you're strong. But you got to believe when you are weak that He is stronger. Don't just believe I'm going to make everything happen today. Believe that if God has called me, He will give me what I need today. Don't just say I'm enough. Say His grace is enough. Because eventually that self-confidence, it reaches its limit. It has a ceiling. But you see, confidence rooted in God has always. You can always go up. There's always somewhere to go. When your strength runs out, there is no ceiling for that. So you need to change the voice that you're agreeing with. You need to change the things that you're saying to yourself. When you catch yourself saying something that contradicts the truth of God, challenge it. When you catch yourself saying that was stupid, or I'm worthless, or I have no purpose, or I just ruined something. No, you're not worthless. You're valuable enough for Jesus to give his life for. You do have purpose. You are created in Christ for good works. You did not ruin anything because God specializes in redemption. You're not too far gone because guess what? His mercy is new every single day. Romans 8 28 tells me God can work all things together for the good of those who love him and are called according to his purpose. You see, that's a fact. That's not pretending. That's fighting lies with Scripture. That is fighting a spiritual war with the armor of God. You see, there's a difference between positive thinking and biblical thinking. You see, positive thinking says everything will work out exactly how I want.
Positive Thinking Versus Biblical Thinking
SPEAKER_03No, no. Biblical thinking says, whatever happens, God is still God. Positive thinking says I can do anything. Biblical thinking says, yeah, I can do what God calls me to do through the strength of his son Jesus. Yeah. You see, that positive thinking always puts that confidence in back in self. But that biblical thinking, whoo, that's the trump card, man. That biblical thinking puts confidence where it's supposed to be in the Creator, back in the all, in God. And strangely enough, maybe coincidence, but I don't believe in them. But uh, when your confidence in God grows, you become more confident in yourself. And you become more confident to step into things that He asked you to do, in roles he asked you to play. If I'd have told you one year ago I'd be in insurance, life insurance today, I'd have laughed at you. I'd have told you, okay, right. Yep. I'm a living testimony. So, guys, I got a little food for thought for you today. A little food for thought. Won't you ask yourself what you've been believing about yourself that God never said about you? Yeah. Think about that. Maybe somebody put a curse or a label on you years ago,
Replace Labels With God’s Truth
SPEAKER_03family member. Maybe they labeled you a failure, a rejection. Or maybe you labeled yourself. Maybe you told yourself that so many times. Maybe you spoke those over yourself. I just want to give you some food for thought because I want to tell you what God says. Because, like, you don't have to be controlled by every thought that enters your mind. You don't have to entertain those things that are not of God. You don't have to live according to someone else's opinion. You don't have to manufacture some larger than life version of yourself just to feel worthy. You can simply stand on this food for thought right here. Write it down, take a picture, tell it to yourself over and over. Here you go. God made me. God knows me. God loves me. God redeems me. God strengthens me. God teaches me. God uses me. And when I fall, His grace picks me back up. Because I believe. I don't just believe in myself. I believe in the God who created me and the God who created you. So, guys, protect your attitude. Protect your gatekeeper. Don't do it by pretending storms are not real, because storms are real and they come and they go. But always remember who's in the boat with you. Because maybe the biggest change you need today isn't your circumstances, it's your beliefs. Maybe it's the renewing of your mind. Focus. Think. Romans twelve, twelve, be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Believe God's word. Renew your mind. Take the next step. Trust Jesus with the outcome. That's your food for thought today, guys. Remember, do not let your circumstances tell you who you are. Let the one who created you tell you who you are. And then go live life like you believe what you just did, what you just said, believing in God. Let's go to the Lord in prayer. Father God, thank you for just reminding us that our identity and our confidence is found solely in you and not in ourselves. Father God, just help us renew our minds, help us reject the lies
Prayer And Closing Invitation
SPEAKER_03of the enemy and teach us to believe what you say about us, Lord. Father God, Lord, just give us strength to take the next faithful step. Father God, just help us trust in you and your son Jesus with the outcome. It's in Jesus' holy heavenly name we pray. Amen and hallelujah. Well, guys, thank you very, very much.
