We talk through the storms that hit every life and why we still believe God has not left us without hope. We ground the whole message in Romans 15:13 and keep coming back to one steady reminder: hold on, pain ends. • naming the “storms” that shake faith, focus, and peace • defining hope as something rooted in God’s nature, not our circumstances • recognizing the common trap of placing hope in temporary things • learning from the Red Sea moment when fear says there is no way • trusting God for joy and peace while the storm is still happening • using prayer and thanksgiving as a response to anxiety • letting hope overflow to others through the Holy Spirit

It is to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The ones who see the world differently. Who don't fit neatly into boxes. And refuse to live by someone else's script. You can quote them. You can disagree with them. You can glorify them or vilify them. You can shake your head at their ideas or be inspired by their courage. But the one thing you cannot do is ignore them. Because they change things. They disrupt what's comfortable. They challenge what's normal. And they push the human race forward. Sometimes with loud revolutions, sometimes with quiet persistence that changes everything over time. They see possibility where others see limits. They dare to dream out loud when the world tells them to be silent. They take risks, they stumble, they rise again, and they keep going. Not because it's easy, but because they can't imagine doing anything else. These are the ones who remind us that every great leap forward was once considered impossible. So here's to them the ones who won't sit down, won't be quiet, and won't stop until the world is different. Because they're the reason it will be.

And it is the Food for Thought Fade Cast, and I just want to welcome you today on this beautiful Monday. Thank you guys for joining me. I mean, whatever you're doing, whether it be your morning commute, you might be on a walk, you might be catching me later in the day after winding down from a long day. I am just grateful that you are here. Um, Courtney and I definitely appreciate you guys listening today. And I'm gonna get her on the podcast more soon. She just doesn't know it. Um guess what,
guys? I heard a storm was coming. It's been raining a lot lately. Um but with the current atmosphere politically all over the country and all over the world, I heard a storm was coming. And today we're gonna talk about something that every one of us experiences at some point in our life, and that's a storm. And we're not gonna talk about just rain and thunderstorm, lightning storm, that sort of thing. But we're gonna talk about this symbolic storm, the storms that shake our hearts. Maybe it's a storm of health. Maybe you're facing uncertainty about your health. Maybe you got a diagnosis, maybe it's the weight of financial pressure that you're carrying. Maybe it's your family that's struggling. These are all things that test your faith. And maybe it's just the simple fact that your faith is tested. Or maybe you're just exhausted from like me, from everything going on in the world, and it's hard to concentrate on the good stuff. Well, I'm doing this podcast because I need to be reminded, and you need to be reminded that there is good news, and God is still here. God has not left us, we are not without hope. Hope is an acronym for Hold on Pain Ends, or the acronym for hope is Hold on Pain Ends. So
today, guys, our theme is gonna be Finding Hope in the Storm. Our title is gonna be Finding Hope in the Storm. And the key scripture that this stems from is Romans 15, 13, which says, May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Notice something right there. Paul doesn't call him merely the God who gives hope. Right? He doesn't call him the God who gives hope. He calls him the God of hope. Remember, hold on, pain ends. And why does he call him that? Because hope is the very part of God's very nature. That means when we draw close to God, we're drawing close to the very source that hope comes from. So let's look at three truths, three facts.
The source of hope, the strength of hope, and the overflowing and abundance of hope. So let's listen to that again. Three truths of this life: the source of hope, the strength of hope, and the overflow of hope. So, number one is a source of hope. What's the source of hope? Well, that would be God Himself, the Father Himself. Right? One of the biggest mistakes we can make is placing our hope in something temporary, something materialistic, something of this world. And let me give you an example. We place our hope in careers, we place our hope in relationships, we place our hope in our savings account, in our insurance, we place our hope in our governments, we place our hope in our doctors. And guess what? We even place our hope because it's our hope in ourselves, in our own ability. You see, all those things sounded good. And all those things have their place. But when we place our hope in one of those things, those things will always disappoint you. It's not a matter of when or if. Paul reminds us that hope begins with the source itself, which is God. God himself. Think about the Israelites standing at the Red Sea. Pharaoh's army
was behind them. Before them was the Red Sea. It was an impossible obstacle. If you look at it humanly speaking, figuratively speaking, and you can say trust the science all you want, there was actually nowhere to go. So obviously the fear spread quickly, right? The people were struck with fear. But where people saw a dead end, where the fear came, which stands for false evidence appearing real, God made it an opportunity to display his power. Once again, God made a way where it felt like there was no way. He opened the sea to his people so they could walk through on dry ground. But one thing you have to understand is their deliverance was not based on their strength, their intelligence, or their courage. It rested completely and solely on God's faithfulness. Isn't that how God works? Isn't that how God works in our lives? How many times? How many times? God had other plans. You see, a lot of times we pray for answers. And a lot of times, instead of God swooping in and changing our circumstances immediately, he reminds us through everything that he is the one ultimately in control. The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. Psalms twenty-three, one. Because God has already created everything you'll ever need. God is the all, the all is all around. And a lot of times he reminds us that he's the one in control. Even though we want our hope to be built on what we can see, it's not. It's not built on what we can see. That's why they call it faith. It's built on who God the Father is. Because he's faithful when we're uncertain. He's present when we're alone. He's powerful when we're weak. He works when we can't see him work. And we have to remind ourselves of that. So if you're in a storm today, remember the same God who led Israel through the sea is the same God who walks with you today. Maybe you, or maybe your Red Sea is a diagnosis. Whatever your diagnosis may be at the term, unemployment, grief, anxiety that seems to follow you every day. Whatever your storm may be, don't focus only on the storm. Focus on the one who commands the storm. Spend time in his word. Spend time talking to him. Remind yourself of his promises. Hold on, pain ends. Hope begins when our eyes move from the problem to the provider. The strength of hope is amazing.
It's basically joy and peace through trust. Trusting the Father. The creator, the author. That's the strength of hope. If you go back to the verse, it continues by saying that God fills us with joy and peace as we trust Him. That's important. Pay attention. Joy and peace doesn't always come after a storm. Sometimes joy and peace comes right in the middle of it. Biblical hope, it's not pretending everything's fine. It's trusting that God is still good when life is not. You remember Paul and Cyrus? Silas? They were beaten, thrown into prison,
chained, in the darkest part of the jail. Most people would be scared to death. Filled with anger or fear or discouragement. But you know what they did? They prayed. They sang hymns. Can you imagine that? They were still faithful. The chains were still there. They were still in prison. The prison walls surrounded them. Yet their hearts were free because their trust was in God Almighty. And God eventually shook the prison with an earthquake, opened the doors, and they used the entire situation to bring the jailer and his whole household to God. Imagine that. It's crazy, isn't it? That's that's what makes the the greatest testimony, right? The greatest testimonies come through the hardest seasons. The greatest testimonies come through the hardest times. They look at us, they watch us. So they're gonna notice when you fall apart and you don't trust God. Very much so. But they're also gonna notice you trusting God despite their unanswered questions. Because the world expects panic, but the God of God offers peace. Now, does that mean we we can't cry? We can't be hurt? No. That doesn't mean that. Does it mean that we're never gonna struggle? No, not at all. We are definitely gonna struggle. A lot of times in his name. Does it mean that we're not gonna constantly ask the Lord why? Right. You see, faith doesn't deny pain. What it does, it takes the pain and shifts it to God. You see, Paul, the apostle Paul, he teaches that God's peace guards our hearts and our minds. But we have to bring our worries to Him with prayer and thanksgiving. It's a pretty cool promise. So every time you get anxious, it becomes an invitation to pray. Every time you fear, it becomes an opportunity to trust God. So, you know, whenever you get anxious, pause, take a breath. You don't have to say a wonderful, long drawn out prayer. Just talk to Him, take a moment. You don't even have to close your eyes. Eyes. Do it in your head. Tell the Lord exactly what's on your heart. Because trust me, he already knows. Ask him to replace the fear with peace. It's that easy. Because hope grows where trust grows. If you trust in him, your hope will grow. And the overflowing of hope becomes amazing, and you can share that with other people.
The final part of Romans 15 13 says that we may overflow with the power, with the hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Overflow, there's that word. I love it. Because God never intended the hope to stop with just you or just me. Imagine filling a cup of water like until it spills over the edge. What does it do? It doesn't stay inside the cup when you put too much in it, right? It overflows outward. That's the way God's hope needs to work. When the Holy Spirit fills our heart, hope should naturally touch the people around us. Right. So, guys, how can we share this gift of hope, this gospel? Tell a friend, share this podcast. Be
a beacon of light to somebody today. Because everybody is walking through storms. But just remember through the death and resurrection of Jesus the Christ, we have forgiveness, we have new life, and the promise that one day every tear will be wiped away, every sorrow will go away. Because I'm here to tell you, I'm here to witness to you that no storm lasts forever. There is no darkness that overcomes his light. Our hope is still alive because our Savior is still alive. As we close today, remember the three truths. God is the source of our heart and our hope. Number two, trusting Him fills us with joy and peace. Even when the storm comes. Even when the storm is there. And third, his hope, hope, his hope, hold on, pain ends. His hope must overflow from our lives into the lives of others through the power of the Holy Spirit. So whatever storm you're facing today, just know God sees you, God loves you, God hasn't abandoned you. Hold on to him. And if you do not have a relationship with him today, you better get right. Let's go to the Lord in prayer. Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for being the God of hope. Thank you that you
are there when life feels uncertain. You remain faithful and unchanging, Lord. We thank you so much, Lord. Lord, I ask you just to fill every listener's heart today with joy and peace, your joy and peace, as they place their trust in you today. Lord, I ask that you strengthen those who are weary, comfort those who are grieving, provide for those who are struggling, heal those who are hurting, heal them in body, mind, and spirit. Lord, please just teach us to keep our eyes focused on you instead of our circumstances. Lord, may your Holy Spirit cause hope to overflow from our lives so that we become beacons of light in the world because we know this world desperately needs you. Lord, help us to encourage others this week and boldly share our hope that we have in you. We love you, Lord. We thank you, Lord, because we know that you are always working even when we cannot see it, Lord. It's in the mighty name, in the mighty, matchless name of Jesus Christ. We pray. Amen and hallelujah.
