The Christ Demeanor
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
We talk about why your mind acts like a gatekeeper and how your attention quietly steers your relationships, habits, and peace. We use Colossians 3 to push for an eternal perspective, a Christ demeanor, and a daily choice to step out of shame loops and back into identity in Christ.
• defining “set your mind on things above” as a practical focus, not denial
• naming distraction, politics, and notifications as competition for attention
• treating the mind as a gatekeeper and life as the follower
• using the Eternity Lens idea to prioritize what lasts
• reframing guilt through the GPS “recalculating” metaphor
• grounding identity in Christ instead of past mistakes and shame
• taking off the old life like muddy clothes, not layering over it
• setting down the backpack of memories, offenses, regrets, and confessed sin
• clothing ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience
• choosing gratitude over fear and love over anger as a daily practice
• focusing on Christ to change perspective and direction
If you do not have a relationship with Christ, please get right.
A Toast To The Misfits
SPEAKER_00It is to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the ones who see the world differently, who don't fit neatly into boxes, and refuse to live by someone else's script. You can quote them, you can disagree with them, you can glorify them or vilify them, you can shake your head at their ideas or be inspired by their courage. But the one thing you cannot do is ignore them. Because they change things. They disrupt what's comfortable, they challenge what's normal, and they push the human race forward. Sometimes with loud revolutions, sometimes with quiet persistence that changes everything over time. They see possibility where others see limits. They dare to dream out loud when the world tells them to be silent. They take risks, they stumble, they rise again, and they keep going. Not because it's easy, but because they can't imagine doing anything else. These are the ones who remind us that every great leap forward was once considered impossible. So here's to them the ones who won't sit down, won't be quiet, and won't stop until the world is different. Because they're the reason it will be.
What “Set Your Mind Above” Means
SPEAKER_02So come on in and let's dive in and get straight to it. What does it actually mean to set your mind on things above? It's kind of a fairy tale type thing, right? The saying, the verse. Above what? Let's dive in. You see, guys, we live in a world where our minds are constantly pulled in several different directions, especially right now. I um take supplements for my brain, I take supplements for um my cognitive health, I take NAD plus, I take all kinds of different things, and they work great. But in this day and age, with everything we have going on, and the ability, there's a lot of different things out there, and your mind is being attacked. In fact, there's a war going on for your mind, and you may think all that stuff in the movies is just the movies and fiction, but let me tell you, it's very, very much real. It's a big one, and it puts a hinder on our relationships. And there's a reason, and I'm gonna get into that. Politics is another one. Think about the endless notifications we get. I'm looking at my email 20 times a day, and it's always something stupid and new, right? Because they already know how your spending habits are, they already know how you're going to act and react to everything because they have been studying you for decades.
Distraction, Politics, And Mind Warfare
SPEAKER_02But let's get to the scripture. Paul tells us something incredibly important here. He basically tells you your mind is the gatekeeper. Where your mind goes, your life's gonna follow, right? He says, set your mind on things above. He's not telling you to ignore life or pretend things don't exist like problems. He's just inviting us to see everything through the lens of God's kingdom, that eternity eternity lens. Shout out to uh a man camp brother of mine, Bill Cooper. He wrote a book called The Eternity Lens: Living in the Real World with an eternal perspective. And if you haven't read that book, you should go read it. Get it on Amazon pretty cheap. It's an amazing book. It's got some amazing stories in it. Go check it out. But back to what I'm saying. Paul says where your mind goes, your life follows. He's inviting you to see everything through the lens of the kingdom. Through the Christ's demeanor, to focus on things that are eternal rather than temporary. Focus on the kingdom. Focus on purpose.
The Eternity Lens And Kingdom Focus
SPEAKER_02Focus on God's promises. You see, earthly things come and go. They rust. They build moss. They don't build moss, but you know what I'm saying. They collect dust. What comes from God the Father lasts forever.
GPS Recalculating Versus Guilt Loops
SPEAKER_02Remember the GPS story I always tell? In the GPS world, nowadays, back in the day, we didn't have a GPS. But anyway, we back in the day it'd be like, yeah, you meant go down to the white church, take a left, at the oak tree, take a right, and then it's three houses, three driveways down on the left. That's how we gave directions back in the day before the internet. Now you got GPS and you got the internet. But think about driving with the GPS, right? We're still making wrong turns even when we have the way in the roadmap in the GPS talking to us. We still get distracted. And when that happens, let me ask you a question. When that happens, does the GPS spend the next 20 miles reminding you of your mistake? Grinding that nail in your head? Spanking you like a child? Does it? Does it? No. No. You know what it does? It simply says recalculating. And boom, it immediately starts pointing you back on the right direction. You see the difference there? You see the difference? The Holy Spirit does the same way, it works the same way, and then evil works the exact same way as well. Except the GPS is modeling the Christ demeanor, not the evil one. The evil one wants you stuck in a loop. It wants to keep telling you over and over what you did wrong. The Christ demeanor, the GPS. The Holy Spirit just recalculates and get you back on your way to your destination. Not stuck in guilt. It just lovingly redirects us back to that Christ demeanor. But we have to keep listening to that voice. We cannot turn that GPS off. Remember who you are. Remember where you came from.
Identity Hidden With Christ
SPEAKER_02The next verse, Colossians 3 3, says, For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. So we look at that and we look at identity because that's what that's about. When we follow Yeshua, when we follow Christ, our old life. The one that was controlled by fear, the one that was controlled by sin, the one that was controlled by selfishness, the one that was controlled by shame, it's no longer with us. Our life becomes brand spanking new with Christ. It's like a transformation. And the butterfly gives new life. I think I said that right. But what I'm saying, guys, is your past does not define you. Your mistakes do not define you. Your failures do not def you. You are not a sum of your sins. Sin is a man-made thing anyway. I'll get into that as well. Maybe not today. But the one who defines you is the one who transforms you, the one, the living God, Jesus Christ. You see, the enemy constantly tries to remind us who we were. The one designed to keep us vibrating in a survival mode. The last thing the evil one wants is for us to wake up to our crystalline light body. To our Christ demeanor. But God the Father continually reminds us who we are. We just have to wake up and look around us. When we truly understand that, when we truly understand that and grasp that, it changes everything. It changes everything. Because let me tell you, God has already created right here everything you'll ever need. You're going to need the Spirit and you're going to need discernment. And it's going to be a battle every day. So you better take up your cross. You better get right. And you got to truly understand that when you understand, you come to a place that's going to shock you. But then you're going to have peace. And then you're going to have joy knowing that you walk in a Christ demeanor.
Take Off The Old Life
SPEAKER_02But the first thing you have to do is take off that old life. Paul tells us to put to death the old ways of living. Things like anger, things like greed, things like lies. All the harmful behavior, the dis-ease to your body, which becomes disease. Imagine, imagine this. You go out and play in the mud. Or work in the mud. Whatever the case is, but you're muddy head to toe, right? You come home, instead of taking the muddy clothes off, instead of washing off, you just try to put on clean clothes on top of them. You see where we're going here? It doesn't work. It'll just become dirty too. You have to put away those dirty clothes to be washed. You have to wash yourself. You have to put away those old ways. Anger, greed, lies, harmful behavior. You see, the same way having a Christ demeanor is removing attitudes and habits that you live with daily that doesn't reflect Him. It doesn't work like that. You have to remove them. Not because you're trying to earn God's love. You've already got that. You've already earned that. You've already received that grace. Let me put it in a more modern parable, I guess, if you will. Imagine carrying a backpack, right? Filled with stones. The first stone on it says painful memories. Past. The second stone says offenses. Past offenses. The third stone says every regret. The fourth stone says every sin you've confessed. And each stone, let's say they weigh twenty-five pounds apiece and they're in a bag on your back. So how many stones is that? One, two, three, four. Memories, offenses, regrets, sins. Hundred pounds. And you're carrying that all day long. And as the day goes on, what happens? You get worn down. It becomes heavier. Eventually you get you become exhausted. Right? Tired. Exhausted. And then someone comes along and says, you know, you don't have to carry that bag anymore. All you gotta do is set it down. That's what Christ offers. That's what the Christ demeanor looks like. You see, we've been forgiven. But many of us still are carrying yesterday's rocks, stones. But let's look back at Paul. He reminds us that that old way, that old life, that old bag is dead. So why are we carrying it still? Why are we still carrying what Christ already put to death? He defeated it. We won. Why are we acting like we're still defeated?
Clothe Yourself With Christlike Character
SPEAKER_02If you move ahead to three twelve in Colossians, Paul gives the most beautiful, beautiful instructions. Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and most of all, patience. Guys, I love the phrase, clothe yourself. You want to know why? Because obviously in this world right now, we have to wear clothes, right? We don't just walk around naked. But think of the pair of think of this. Every morning, every day we wake up, we get to choose what we wear. Some people will only have one outfit. And they're grateful. And that makes it easy. And they're thankful. And that makes it easy. But most of us in this modern world, we get to choose what we wear. And spiritually, Symbolically, for those who have ears to hear, we get to make the same choice. So ask yourself today: are you going to wear pride? Are you going to wear humility? Are you going to wear impatience? Or are you going to wear grace? Are you going to wear anger or are you going to wear compassion? Paul tells us intentionally to put on the character of Christ, which the father told me earlier to call it the Christ demeanor, because we're in the modern world and it would catch on better. So we need to intentionally put on the Christ demeanor. What does a Christ demeanor look like, B. Rob? You might ask. Well, the Christ demeanor has compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience. I'm struggling with all that. But I lived my life knowing what is right and still not acting that way. And it was my program, and I didn't even know it. I was too distracted to see the truth. Too entertained by this world and things of this world. So now I strive for the Christ demeanor, and I strive to set my mind on things above. But will you choose compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, or will you choose impatient anger? The past. For me, it's an hourly one, or even down to the minute. My daily motto is give thanks, ask for guidance, guidance. Give thanks for guidance. Give more thanks. Wash, rinse, and repeat, you know. But it's a daily challenge. It's a daily choice. Every day we get to choose faith over fear, gratitude over complaining, love over anger, forgiveness instead of bitterness, humility instead of pride, hope instead of despair. You see, the more we focus on Christ, the more we live the Christ demeanor. We should strive every day to become like Him. And the more we do that, the better habits we're going to get. You see, you can't snap your fingers and transform yourself overnight. You were programmed since birth. To be in a survival mode, to be in fear, to live. This 3D matrix is something melts. But that thing inside you calling out, knowing good, knowing what is good, what is bad. That's your spirit. That's the one who shapes you. You should listen, do not ignore. Because the more we focus on the Christ
Focus Shapes Your Life Direction
SPEAKER_02demeanor, the more we become like Him. Because let me tell you something. The mind is a gatekeeper to the body and the heart. And there's constantly somebody up there trying to get past who you should not let past. So, what I'm trying to say is whatever you fill your mind with eventually shapes your body and your life. Give you another modern example. A photographer, right? Let's look at a photographer. You see, the photographer knows something important. If the camera lens is focused on the wrong object, then everything else in the picture becomes blurry, especially on these new iPhones, right? You can touch on something, it focuses on that, and it you know what I'm saying. The rest of the picture becomes blurry. Nothing else changed. Just the focus. You see, life kind of works that way, and you have that power because you come from the living source. The Father, the God. You're the Son. Sons of God. You see, when we focus on our problems, our fear becomes bigger. When we focus on people, comparison starts to grow. You see? When we focus on being right, our pride increases. That's a tricky one there. But let me tell you something. When we focus on Christ, everything else falls into place, including yourself. And it may not immediately change. Sometimes it does. I've seen some crazy miracles. But you know what immediately changes? Our perspective. The gatekeeper. So today, ask yourself the temple of God that you own, which is your body, the soul who inhabits it, and the mind who is the gatekeeper. What are you setting your mind on? What orders are you giving your gatekeeper? Are you telling them to worry? Are you telling them to compare? Are you telling them to have fear because you can be attacked at any moment? Or are you telling them to focus on Christ in the kingdom? You see, this world will always compete for your attention. But your attention shapes your direction. And your direction is going to shape your destiny. And when we set your mind on Christ-like things, things that are not of this earth, the Father will begin to change you from the inside out. I promise you.
Prayer, Peace, And Friday Closing
SPEAKER_02Let's pray. Dear Heavenly Father, Lord, we thank you. We thank you for just reminding us that our identity should be found in Christ alone and nothing of this world. Please keep reminding us that we have a choice daily, Lord. That we have a choice to be focused on you or be consumed by temporary distractions and concerns of this world. Lord, please teach us to let go of the old life, strip off those old clothes, put them in a laundry basket so that they can be washed and renewed. Lord, remind us to clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience. Lord, just help us when we lose our way. Just gently remind us to get back on track, Lord. We thank you. We pray that you guide us to selflessness that we may bless somebody and help somebody else today. May our thoughts, our words, and our lives reflect Christ. It's in Yeshua's holy, heavenly name we pray these things. Amen and hallelujah. Well, guys, today has been a good day. It's Friday. About to go take my little buddy. My little Frenchie buddy. That's why he's not in here. About to go take him to get his uh manhood uh, you know, that sort of thing. So y'all pray. He's a little old. He's almost he's two, so I'm, you know, no, we ain't, we don't fear nothing of this world. God has this, right? Yeah, see, I need to, yes, see, that's me. I am human and I have to remind myself daily. And please, guys, do the same. If you do not have a relationship with Christ, please get right. I love you. God loves you. Let's go. Friday. God bless you guys.
