I talk about how influence shapes us long before we notice it, and why Psalm 1 treats blessing as both pursuit and refusal. I walk through the slow drift of “walk, stand, sit,” then land on grace, rootedness, and guarding your spiritual atmosphere in a noisy culture.
• Matthew 6 and the call to stop borrowing trouble from tomorrow
• Why influence moves crowds and why modern voices act like counsel
• What “blessed” really means in Psalm 1
• How repeated inputs become repeated thoughts and a repeated life
• The walk stand sit progression and why compromise feels gradual
• Choosing a path on purpose because direction determines destination
• Loving broken people without adopting what destroys them
• The danger of cynicism and the seat of scoffers

Worry And Tomorrow In Matthew 6
SPEAKER_03Do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, or what you will drink, or about your body, what you will put on. Look at the birds of the air. They neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, yet your heavenly father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you, by being anxious, can add a single hour to a span of life? Therefore, do not be anxious, saying, What shall we eat? What shall we drink? What shall we wear? And your heavenly father knows you leave them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness. All these things will be added to you.
SPEAKER_02The Bible says in Matthew 6.34, therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.

SPEAKER_01Hey guys, it's B-Rob, and it is Friday, May 8th, and it is another beautiful, brisk, cold morning. But it's supposed to get up in the 70s today, which means it's gonna be another beautiful day. Might have a little rain today. I don't know. We'll see what the uh Lord brings. We'll see what the Lord brings today. We're gonna talk about something that I told you we were gonna talk about. Psalms 1-1. Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit at the seat of scoffers. That's a good one. That's a good one. Um I'd explain why you feel the way you feel. First off, I want to welcome everybody on the podcast. I want to welcome you to the Faith Cast today. Hopefully, everybody will get a little something. If you like what you hear, please share. We've got quite a few listeners, but I'd love to grow this thing. This is an amazing thing that God has given me. And I just want to share it with everybody. Um, today's episode is sponsored by Trey Knott. You need to check that out. So uh roll on over to www.trainot.com forward slash B-rob. That's B-E-R-O-B. Yeah, check it out. It's good stuff. Um, we're dabbling, we got some new stuff coming. Apparently, we're getting into peptides. So I'm interested to see that. Things are happening fast. But anyway, guys, I want to welcome you to the Faith Cast. Today I want to talk about something that affects every single one of us, whether we realize it or not. What is the number one thing that moves the crowd? What's the number one thing that gets people moving in a direction? Think about modern society. What is the number one thing? People move in flocks, right? So it's going to be influence. Who's speaking into your life? What voices are shaping your mind? What environments are shaping your spirit? Think about it. Algorithms, TV, trends. Think about all the modern stuff. I don't think the technology was supposed to be used for good. But I think God hijacked it. So let's go back to the Bible. Psalms 1 1. Psalms opens up the entire, this verse opens up the entire book of Psalms. And Psalms 1 opens up with a powerful statement. Blessed is the man. Now let's examine the word blessing. Blessed. Blessed means more than happy. It means you are spiritually grounded, favored, flourishing, deeply fulfilled in the presence of God. And then Psalms immediately tells us something surprising. Sometimes blessing is connected not only to what you do, but also to what you refuse to attach yourself to, right? Walk not in the counsel of the wicked. Look at the verse, Psalms 1 1. Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked. Now let's examine the word counsel. Counsel means advice. Counsel means guidance. A worldview. A perspective. You see, everybody's listening to somebody. Even social media right now is counseling people. Music has been counseling people since the dawn of time. Friends are counseling people. Culture is counseling people. How do you think multilevel marketing works? Everybody's moving. The flocks are moving. The harvest is plentiful. Then Psalms One does something different. It asks, Whose voice has your ear? Because eventually the voices you repeatedly listen to become the thoughts you repeatedly think, the actions you repeatedly do. And the thoughts you repeatedly think become the life you repeatedly live. You see, it doesn't happen suddenly. It doesn't happen overnight. Rome did not take a day to build or a day to destroy. You see, at first, the wrong voice sounds harmless. Then it becomes normal. Then it becomes reality. That's why I wrote the book. And that's why discernment matters. And that's why God puts this stuff on my heart. Guys, you see, not every voice deserves access to you and your spirit. Just because it's popular, just because it's popular, just because everybody's doing it, just because it's on the TV, just because it's on the news every five minutes, just because it's on the Facebook, every single time you get on there, doesn't mean it's wise. Doesn't mean it's knowledge. Just because something is loud, bolded in your face, doesn't mean it's truth. I can think of an old testament story that we just talked about recently. The two altars, one of Baal, one of God. And the sons of Baal danced, cried, cut themselves. You remember all that? Yeah. Just because something is loud does not mean it's truth. You see, a blessed person, a blessed individual, a child of God, a person who uses discernment learns to filter what enters the heart. I want you to notice the progression of things in Psalm one. Walk, stand, sit. This Psalm is incredibly deep because it shows a progression. Walk, stand, sit. First you walk near it, then you stand in it, then eventually you sit in it. Guys, sin rarely traps people instantly, it gradually happens. I did not become an alcoholic overnight, but it was 30 years of having a couple beers every night. Then that couple turned into a few. That few turned into a six-pack. Next thing you know, it was normal. And my soul wasn't having it. My body wasn't having it. And after 30 years, it eventually wore me down. My spirit knew it was wrong. My spirit cried out. And when I stopped drinking, yeah, I went. Occasionally drinking a beer or two on the weekend with dinner, whatever. But I've cut it out because I come to find out that when I have that beer or two at dinner, it makes me feel bad. My body doesn't like it. And to me, that's more important. But where I'm going with this is it happens gradually. You casually entertain something, then it becomes comfortable. Then eventually you become planted in it. And time passes. And that is exactly why compromise is dangerous. Because before you know it, you're sitting in it. You're drowning in it. I mean, nobody wakes up in the morning and says, I want to destroy my peace. Nobody wakes up in the morning and says, I want to lose my purpose. Nobody wakes up in the morning and says, I want to harden my heart. It's a slow, gradual drift. Kind of like if you were in the middle of a pond and you were to drop a bobber or a leaf in the middle of the pond, it's slowly gonna drift to the shore. Either one side or the other. And the reason this happens is because the enemy loves to gradually desensitize you. I don't know if you know this or not. But in their cult, where they worship the devil, they have to get consent. And they do it through TV, they do it through books, they do it through all different sorts of broadcast. Casting spells. They're telling you. So be careful. Psalms one says, Blessed, the blessed person stays aware of spiritual drift, the way of sinners. Nor stand in the way of sinners. The word way means lifestyle, path, direction, the way. The Bible constantly teaches that life is about pathways. One path leads to life, the other path leads to destruction. Am I correct? And here's the important truth of it. You don't accidentally end up somewhere spiritually. You want to know why? It's a choice. It's a choice given by God. It's called grace. Direction determines destination. So if you continually walk in the way of bitterness, pride, lust, greed, ego, rebellion, fear, eventually those things will shape you to become those things. And eventually you will lie and sit in those things. And eventually you will drown where you sit. But there's good news. God loves us way too much not to warn us about the direction of our way. And this isn't about being self-righteous or acting better than anybody else. Yeshua spent time with sinners constantly. He didn't spend a lot of time in the synagogues when he was an adult. So Psalms 1 is not teaching isolation from broken people. Don't get it twisted. It's teaching, don't let broken systems become your identity as a child of God. You can actually learn to love people without adopting the spirit that's destroying them. Did you know that? Ooh. You can actually love people without adopting the evil spirits, that is destroying people. That is destroying them. Then the verse turns around, it says, Nor sit at the seat of scoffers. A scoffer is someone who mocks the truth, mocks holiness, mocks conviction, conviction, mocks Jesus, mocks God. One of the most dangerous conditions of the heart is cynicism. Because you see, cynicism disguises itself as intelligence. Being a hipster, laughing at purity, laughing at faith, laughing at repentance, laughing at obedience. Kind of reminds me of four guys sitting together and laughing at nude pictures. Or racist jokes. Or making fun of people because they think it's cool. When really it's not cool. Some people laugh at faith. Some people laugh at obedience. Some people laugh at repentance. But see, eventually all that laughing will harden your heart. You become of the world. When people constantly mock God or what is sacred, they'll lose sensitivity to it. That's why we have to guard our hearts from becoming hard and cold. The world often celebrates sarcasm, humor, comedy, mockery. But you see, heaven doesn't, heaven honors humility. Because the blessed life is rooted in divinity. It's rooted in God. Now comes the beautiful thing. Psalm one doesn't just tell you what to avoid, it tells you what to embrace. But his delight is in the law of the Lord. Excuse me, that's Psalm two. Psalm verse two. His delight is in the law of the Lord. Because the blessed person is not empty. They're filled with something much, much greater. I mean, you cannot beat sin with sin. You cannot overcome darkness with darkness. You cannot do that. Two wrongs don't make a right. How do you overcome darkness? You become rooted in light. You become rooted in truth. You become rooted in the word. Because the more you delight in God's presence, the less attractive counterfeit beings or things become. The less attractive this world becomes. A healthy tree produces healthy fruit because of its roots, naturally. And if you look at verse three, it says, He is like a tree planted by the streams of water. Think about that image. A tree planted near water survives droughts because its roots go deep. Its roots are so embedded underneath the bed of that stream. So deep. And that's the kind of believer God wants you to become. Not emotionally unstable, not spiritually dry, not constantly shaken by this world or culture, but rooted, grounded, connected to the source of light and the source of life. So, guys, be careful what shapes you. Ask yourselves honestly. What's shaping your thinking lately? What's your current atmosphere you're living in? Because all those things matter. Those questions matter. Environments matter. If you constantly surround yourself with negativity, if you constantly surround yourself with lust, anger, gossip, pride, unbelief, gore, sex, eventually it's going to affect you. Eventually it's going to affect your spirit. You may not notice it immediately. But little by little, by little, by little, your sensitivity will begin to change. That's why protecting your spirit and your spiritual atmosphere is pure wisdom. It's not legalism. Think about something. Some relationships drain your peace. Some conversations poison your mind. Some entertainment feeds confusion instead of life. You see, discernment is not judgment. Discernment is recognizing what simply helps your soul stay alive. But guys, even if you've drifted, even if you've gone, even if you've gone out to sea and you have trouble getting back to shore. That's why there's grace. So maybe somebody listening right now feels convicted. Maybe you're saying, I've been drifting. Maybe you've saying I've allowed the wrong voices in my life. Maybe you've just grown spiritually cold. Well, guys, the good news is God restores people. Yeshua, Jesus the Christ, specializes in restoring hearts that wander, hearts that drift. Imagine this: Peter drifted, he was restored. David failed, he was restored. The prodigal son wandered, and he came back home, and he was restored. Do not get something twisted. Conviction is not condemnation. Condemnation says you're hopeless. Conviction says to come back home. God is not calling you into shame, He's calling you back into life. Psalms one begins with a choice. There's two paths, there's two influences, there's two directions. And then it asks, what kind of person will you become? Blessed is the one who guards their heart. Blessed is the one who delights in the Lord. Blessed is the one who refuses to be shaped by corruption. Blessed is the one who planted their tree near living water. Because, guys, in a noisy world full of competing voices, I pray we become people who stay rooted in faith, truth, wisdom, humility, and simply the presence of God. Let's go to the Lord in prayer. Dear Father, we come to you right now. We need you to give us discernment about the voices we allow in our hearts, in our lives. We ask you to help us not to drift slowly away from your truth, your word. Lord, please just plant us like trees beside living water. Restore every heart that is wondering. Lord, please teach us today to delight in your presence more than any distraction of this world. Lord, we love you. We accept any blessings you may have for us today. It's in Yeshua's holy, heavenly name. Amen and hallelujah. Well, guys, I hope this podcast plants some seeds and bears fruit. I hope it honors God. And if you do not have a relationship with Yeshua, the Christ, you better get right, guys. And make sure you stay in the Word.
