The Food for Thought Faithcast with Be Rob

What if truth became our only weapon—and our only way back?

Be Rob Season 4 Episode 36

What if we stopped selling a soft, self-help gospel and told the truth about why grace matters? We dig into the hard edge of good news—how real love only makes sense when we face what we’ve been saved from—and why the most honest message is simple: you need Jesus. That shift reframes everything: vows become traps without the Spirit, temptation is a battleground we don’t win alone, and repentance is more than confession—it’s surrender that changes what we want.

From there, we widen the lens to the public square and the power of speech. Microphones over swords becomes more than a metaphor as we talk courage, nonviolence, and the cost of calling. We revisit the early martyrs to remind ourselves that titles aren’t brands; they’re burdens. We look at today’s pressure cookers—censorship, backlash, and the risks of telling inconvenient truths—and make the case that honest debate and free speech are not luxuries; they’re safety valves that keep communities from boiling over. When people stop talking, violence moves in.

Along the way, we get practical: flee what feeds the flesh, curate your five closest influences, and remember how God delivered you before—like David facing Goliath with a sling, not borrowed armor. We close on urgency and hope: eternity is real, people are hungry for meaning, and a rising generation is waking up. If we pair conviction with compassion and courage with humility, truth can still win hearts without a single shot fired. Subscribe, share this with someone who needs clarity, and leave a review with the one truth you’re committing to say out loud this week.

I cringe when I go to Whole Foods and there's some guy that says repent now. I think he gives religion a bad name. However, laying out the stakes of the one-two sequence, which is we are damned, we are all short of the glory of God, and there is this bridge to get to the divine. Most churches you will go to in this area are nationwide. The soft gospel will go. Everybody, thank you so much for coming Easter Sunday. I want you to give your life to Christ. He loves you so much. He has a great life for you. You might be dealing with addiction and you can live a better life. Now, those things are technically true, but people look at Jesus like Aramaic Tony Robbins. Your relationship with Christ is real and truer when you understand the stakes of the damnation that you were saved from. So what is the right message then? Is it Jesus loves you or is that God condemns you? It should be that you need Jesus. Needs to be the one-two combo. If you only have one, then you look awfully cruel and legalistic. We are all facing an eternal damnation because we are totally depraved as humans. If your Christianity is nothing more than an insurance plan for the afterlife, that is not a conversion. That is not a legitimate Christianity. That is an insult to God. You cannot live a fulfilling, beautiful, deep, Christ-centered life, one that is truly joyful and violate his teachings or his commands. You ultimately do the things not to get saved, you do them because you are saved. You do those things because of that free gift of eternal salvation. That's not from God. That's the spirit of slumber by Satan. Yet you watch a movie and you keep on wanting to go to the next Netflix show. Next Netflix show.

SPEAKER_11:

That means that you have been led not only into confession, but into repentance. The weight of loss. You have recalled to your mind the years of wandering. You know the time that you wish that you could redeem. The mistakes that you could undo. And yet none of us have the ability to be time travelers. And to fix the past.

SPEAKER_13:

Let me also say this though. It says that very clearly in the scriptures. Anyone here is an elder of this wonderful church. So number one, Satan tries to get you through your vows. I will never do it. I will never take another drink again. You are not capable of doing that. Self-control is a fruit of the spirit. He says it very clearly in the scriptures. Would I ever not be able to take another drink again? That is a completely different thing. And Jesus said He said, Do not do not make earthly vows. And you're no being As soon as you take a vow. What is what is Satan? He's a taunt. He's able to taunt you with your own vow, right? You said you would never do this again. Come on, let's see how strong you are. All of a sudden it's held over your head. You should say, I am not enough. Jesus take my place and fight the spiritual battle for me. Please, Jesus, come into my life. And surrender that true unconditional admission. That you cannot fight that spiritual battle is incredibly liberated. And Jesus will come in and will win that battle. But here's the other second way that Satan takes hold when we are disobedient, especially in terms of the flesh. Satan is a master of being able to capture us when we engage in repetitive, intentional, fleshly. We all know what that is. I don't need to overemphasize that. You know what that is. It's when we decide the things that feel good that we know that are not good for us. Especially in the sexual domain. That's where Satan is licking his chops and he knows he's gotta do it. He knows that's where human beings are in some ways that they're weak. This is why it says in the New Testament, fleeing from sexual immorality. And it goes on to say that Satan crowls the earth and first Peter prowls the earth like a lion. Looking for those to devour. Now again, I'm not sure any of you expected to come at an ADM service and hear about Satan. You'll be glad you did because he's real, okay? The third thing is by who you surround yourself with and what you put into your what you put into your mind and what you put into your soul. It's a very important thing. That you are a combined moving average of the five people you spend the most time with. Go home tonight and listen to the people you spend the most the five time spend the most time with the five people you spend the most time with. Not your five best friends, not the five people you want to be with, but just an allotment of time. Are those five people glorifying?

SPEAKER_05:

Are the five people glorifying God? Hey guys, it's B Robb, it's the Food for Talk Faith Cast, and um enjoying this wonderful 70-degree fall day out here. It's an amazing time, it's an amazing thing, and so is the gospel of Jesus Christ. Have you told somebody today about Jesus Christ? I certainly hope so. It's uh it is a radical story, it's an amazing story, and God is so good, God is so good. Let's get into some more clips, some more news.

SPEAKER_03:

Um, something that I want to share just going back to the Charlie Kirk funeral, and uh man, I tell ya, it blessed me and many, many, many other people. And um I'm mindful of my good friend Michael Kingsley out of Dallas, Texas. He writes, quote, The power of the microphone the microphone versus the sword. He writes, Charlie didn't die with a knife in his hand, he didn't go down with a gun by his side. He left this world holding a microphone, and his only weapon was truth. Behind closed doors, his enemies picked up weapons of another kind, envy, hate, fear, jealousy. They thought those could silence him, but Charlie proved something greater. A voice of truth outlives the bullets, outshines the blades, and outlasts at the cowards. Truth or a microphone is stronger than any weapon forged in darkness. And while the media shout civil war, hate and bloodshed, I pray instead for a new army. Not men and women with rifles, but men and women with microphones of truth. America doesn't need another civil war. America needs a civil awakening. Imagine a million young people not storming with weapons, but rising with microphones, declaring truth in classrooms, campuses, the workplace, town halls. That is how you win a generation. That is how you rescue a nation teetering on the edge of darkness. Charlie showed us that courage is contagious. He turned the microphone into a sword of light. He showed us that the man unafraid to speech cannot be defeated by those afraid to listen. Now it's our turn. Pick up the microphone, carry the truth, refuse the fear. America, get ready. The revelation of truth has begun. Someone says, before you call yourself a prophet, do you know that the prophet Isaiah was cut in half for the gospel? We're joined today. Before you call yourself apostle, do you know that Apostle John was thrown into a pot of boiling oil for the same gospel? Apostle Peter was crucified upside down, and that is how the early Christian died. They died without building a big church or but they won souls for Jesus. Today there are many who make themselves apostles, a prophets, a bishops, a pastor, but do not know the value of that name. Nobody wants to die for the gospel today. I keep asking, are these people really servants of God? Or themselves? So never think your calling is a way just to make money. Remember your calling is for God and winning souls are not just making to get wealth that many big ministries sadly do today. Let me remind you how the apostles died. Matthew suffered martyrdom in Ethiopia, killed by a sword wound. Mark died in Alexandria, Egypt, after being dragged by horses through the street until he was dead. Luke was hanged and grazed as a result of his tremendous preaching to the laws. John vicemart him when he was bold and a huge basin of bowling wool during a wave of persecution in Rome. However, he was miraculously delivered from death. John was then sentenced to the mines on the prison of Island of Patmos. He wrote his prophetic book of Revelation on Patmos. The apostle John was later freed and returned to serve as a bishop of Edycia, modern Turkey. He died as an old man, the only apostle to die peacefully. Peter, he was crucified upside down on an X-shaped cross. According to church tradition, it was because he told his tormentors that he felt unworthy to die in the same way that Jesus had died. James, the leader of the church in Jerusalem, was thrown over a hundred feet down from the southeast pinnacle of the temple when he refused to deny his faith in Christ. When they discovered that he survived the fall, his enemies uh beat James to death. And I want to encourage you may we be bold, may we shine bright, and may we be a billboard for God. And uh he came out with an awesome thing during COVID called Check the News. And my boss Billy Graham used to say that he would actually preach with the Bible in one hand and the newspaper in the other. I'm telling you, we definitely need to preach the truth. But the people on the street are also curious to hear what's really going on. I'm not only gonna give you the good news, but here's some news that you can use. Let's check the news.

SPEAKER_07:

You being an experienced United States Secret Service agent, do you feel like there's way more to this story?

SPEAKER_06:

Oh, yeah. I'm telling you. I'll scream that to the high heavens about this. They're covering up all kinds of information, and if they took him out as a sacrificial lamb, and he would have made an excellent president based on his issues and information, and these other people totally hated him.

SPEAKER_07:

Pure hate. He would have been a problem for the Democrats in 2032.

SPEAKER_06:

Yes, definitely. He would have been an automatic shoe-in based on his connections.

SPEAKER_07:

He would have had the hearts and minds of the youth. He was already paving the way to be president, 100%. They took him out before he can make any more headway. Exactly.

SPEAKER_02:

It's real. This is the most unbelievable thing I think I've ever seen. And I don't. What whatever happens next in America, I hope it's in this direction because God is here and you can feel it. And Charlie would have loved this, not just because he loved large groups of people, but because ultimately he was a Christian evangelist.

SPEAKER_13:

Jewish donors, they have a lot of explaining to do, a lot of decoupling to do, because Jewish donors have been the number one funding mechanism of radical open border neoliberal quasi-Marxist policy, cultural institutions, and nonprofits. This is a beast created by secular Jews. And now it's coming for Jews, and they're like, what on earth happened? And it's not just colleges, it's the nonprofits, it's the movies, it's Hollywood, it's all of them. It's like time for you guys to wake up and say no more, draw a line in the sand. I don't care if you hate me. And honestly, most of these players are sick of this crap too. I get messages from these players all the time. I won't say their names on here because they'll be canceled all throughout the NFL, all throughout the NBA. They're messaging me. I was just in Vegas, the NBA Summer League was going on. I had probably 10 NBA players come up to me. And of all different, you know, backgrounds and colors, and what do you mean? They're like, Charlie, we love your stuff. If anyone found out we followed your stuff, we'd be canceled. I have a special Instagram account where I just follow you because they found out that I was following you on another Instagram account following. Burner NBA accounts following me. I cried on election night. Uh because you thought it was a restoration of the Judeo-Christian parties that are inherent to the Constitution. Let me tell you why, because I think you might appreciate this as a historian. Um, Joe Biden sent the entire federal government after Turning Point USA and me personally. They wanted me in federal prison. Right. We don't want that. And by the way, that's what despots do, not Donald Trump. Let me finish. And so when Donald Trump won, it was a sigh of relief that maybe I won't have to go to federal prison. Maybe I can actually be around my kids. And maybe we can live in a free society. Blessed are those who are persecuted. And so, look, being persecuted is a blessing. I think the pastor might agree with this. If you aren't currently being condemned, death threats, being trying to run out of town, you're not fighting hard enough. Um I mean that. I mean, look, you got to be boundary pushing. You have to be trying to you can tell a lot of a man based on the enemies that you earn. And so just look, in James 1, it talks all about bre the blessed persecution. Jesus talked about it as well. And so just take heart in the Lord and it'll make you a stronger believer and Christian. The way you are treating me is so repulsive. I have text messages, Megan, calling me an anti-Semite.

SPEAKER_12:

It's been so unfair. They were coming after you after a turning point for among other things. So you had Dave Smith there. Dave Smith isn't allowed to criticize Israel. You had both sides. The Israeli side does God will represent.

SPEAKER_13:

No, you're not allowed to. It's even worse than that. My moral character is now being put into question, Megan. Not my decisions, not like, hey, are you doing this? Is it smart or is it dumb? But no, I am a bad person if I do this. It's like there's some you can't go there when it comes to Israel. Well, you and I believe that we're Americans and Americans first. Period. End of story. We are citizens of this nation, okay? And Israel. We have funded, we have supported. I host a person that I de I moderate the debate of fights. Right. Right? And I give equal time to Josh Hammer, equal time to a pro-Israel advocate, and my moral character is being put into question. And so I I just I think it's a hyper paranoid, like we're just gonna try to we're gonna just stamp out everything type type of practice, but it goes to the point where if, for example, if I I have less ability sometimes online to criticize the Israeli government about backlash than actual Israelis do.

SPEAKER_08:

I'm gonna choose my words carefully, so listen carefully. Charlie Kirk was among the most culturally influential political commentators on the right. I do not care what you think about any of Charlie Kirk's political views. In all likelihood, he wasn't able to be bought, he wasn't able to be blackmailed, and so he was killed. This is gonna be uncomfortable for people on the left, but we can do it. We must start to understand that Charlie Kirk was not a martyr for the right, he was a martyr for the people. He died because he resisted corruption. Charlie Kirk's assassination must go down in history as a moment when the people woke up to corruption in the US government. We cannot fumble the ball here. The current narrative being peddled to us by the powers that be is that Charlie Kirk is a martyr for the right. Whether you are on the left, on the right, or anywhere in between, do not take this bait. Do not reinforce this narrative in any way. The people united will never be defeated. And the biggest threat to us uniting is us falling for their divide and conquer strategies that would have us fighting each other rather than fighting the corruption that in all likelihood actually killed Charlie Kirk.

SPEAKER_10:

This sniper is only a coward, not a hero. No martyr's cause has ever been stilled by an assassin's bullet. No wrongs have ever been righted by riots and civil disorders, and those who take such appeal are sure to lose their case and pay the cost. Violence breeds violence, repression breeds retaliation, and only a cleansing of our whole society can remove this sickness from our souls. But we can perhaps remember, if only for a time, that those who live with us are our brothers, and surely we can begin to work a little harder to bind up the wounds among us and to become in our hearts brothers and countrymen once again.

SPEAKER_14:

Once again, at a very similar crossroads, it starts by seeing within others and within ourselves that which is not selfish, but is brave and generous and idealistic and has good intentions. And I'm not saying that we should ignore the base elements of human nature or the dangers of the world. But if that's all that we see, and we're gonna be stuck forever in the mentality of war, and we will reap forever its poisonous fruits. We have a unique opportunity not only to diffuse those tensions, but to take a radically different path, a path towards peace.

SPEAKER_13:

I go around universities and have challenging conversations because that's what is so important to our country is to find our disagreements respectfully. Because when people stop talking, that's when violence happens.

SPEAKER_10:

I've never seen someone do this.

SPEAKER_13:

Well, it's a growing trend because people like me are facing violence, assaults the left. Yes, the campus Antifa. I've been stormed out of restaurants, I've been assaulted publicly, multiple death threats.

SPEAKER_08:

Okay, so what's your call being this?

SPEAKER_13:

There's more people that agree with me than some people would actually believe and they come out of the woodwork when I do stuff like this. We record all of it so that we put foot on the internet so people can see these ideas collide. When people stop talking, that's when you get funny.

SPEAKER_01:

Just charge him with a little bit of vacation.

SPEAKER_15:

Well, I'll just say to you, Pastor, Charlie Kirk was the most misunderstood missionary in Christendom. He you you think he was political. He used politics as a monument to Christianity. He actually contended for the issues that matter to these young people. When the Bible says that you just keep commands to love the Lord, you're gonna love the Lord to love your neighbors yourself. You actually love them enough to contend in the public square for those things that would allow them to have freedom. He defended the children. But God says if you come up with one of them, just to believe you better have a no stone together under the next leader because you play this nobody would go to the missionary goals where he's no longer needed, please when he's no longer needed for love. Listen to this. And on Sunday, your church is gonna be filled with people coming in because it's life. We did what we should have been doing. And if you best understand that man's life and not my mother line, stand for truth. Largest awakening 18 to 30 year olds in the history of the country. Wake up, Pastor. Don't be over my skin. This is what's happening.

SPEAKER_09:

Like, man, my mama just said we both Democrats because we black. Black didn't fulfill my desires of what I thought we should be giving more critical thought to. So I went and did my own research, and it's good to see not just diversity, but diversity of thought. That's one thing that I can praise Turner Point for is we like to bring people in. Genius. Genius, man. When I was around him, I knew immediately that I'm glad that God put that calling on his life because I was exhausted just looking at it. It's hard work, and I'm just glad that God put that calling on his life, and I'm just able to do my part. On the ground, in the schools. I was in the military, I'm a Christian, I'm a father, I'm a husband. So all these things that make our community strong. Strong families create strong communities. We are out here, and we were successful.

SPEAKER_00:

The story of David. So here's a young boy, and he stands up against this nine-foot Philistine who is suited up in gold-plated armor, who's never lost a fight before. And David's brother is in his air and he's saying, Who do you think you are? You have no shot, you're conceited, your heart is wicked. And David does not waver, he stands firm and he says, Oh yeah, actually I'm a servant and I tend to my father's sheep. And when a lion or a bear comes to kill my sheep, I strike it and I rescue the sheep from its mouth. And when the lion tries to kill me, guess who rescues me? My God. He's so confident in God. He doesn't even wear armor. He holds a little uh slingshot. And when he goes to fight the Philistine, he says, You come at me with your spear and swords, I come at you with my Almighty God. And that is so inspiring to me because how many of us get thrown lies of deception?

SPEAKER_04:

7.7 billion people call planet Earth home. Sadly, 152,000 people died today. 152,000 died yesterday. And 152,000 will die tomorrow. According to the CBC, 2.8 million people died annually in America alone. From America to Antarctica to Australia, most people have no clue where they will spend eternity. Opposed to sit on the sidelines, we elected to get in the game. Regardless of providing relief during natural disasters, distributing food and clothes to the poor, helping eradicate humans that globally, influence and explorers, motivating world-class athletes, students, public, ministry, powerful politicians, countling at the state, a point in the class anyway who stays at home. A massive sporting to block. From coast to coast and around the globe. From London, England, Guatemala, the Bahamas, Jamaica, Mexico, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Romania, Paris, Philippines, Brazil, Africa, Tokyo, Pakistan, India, 7.7 billion people, seven, and the same.
