The Food for Thought Faithcast with Be Rob

Ep. 18- Soul Talks part 1

Be Rob Season 2 Episode 18

Have you ever felt so overwhelmed by life that you questioned your faith? Those moments when your soul feels downcast and your heart heavy with burdens too great to bear? You're not alone.

Drawing wisdom from Psalm 42:11, we explore that powerful moment when the psalmist questions his own soul: "Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me?" This biblical writer demonstrates a profound spiritual practice—preaching truth to yourself when emotions threaten to overwhelm you. Sometimes we must become our own spiritual counselors, reminding our hearts who God is and who He's called us to be.

Prayer emerges as our lifeline in these dark moments. When life knocks you down, prayer opens a direct channel to divine intervention. Nothing is off-limits—your anger, disappointment, heartbreak—God invites it all. As John 15:7 reminds us, "If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish and it will be done." This isn't just spiritual theory; it's a practical pathway back to hope.

We also unpack the dangerous reality of being BUSY (Buried Under Satan's Yoke) through the story of Martha and Mary. While Martha frantically prepared meals and played hostess, her sister Mary chose "the better part" by sitting at Jesus' feet. How often do we miss divine encounters because we're distracted by seemingly important tasks? The enemy strategically uses both busyness and emotions to cloud our vision and delay our obedience to God.

Regardless of your age—whether you're in your twenties or fifties—finding your purpose remains a journey rather than a destination. The key is staying connected through prayer, giving God glory in everything, and drawing strength from Christ for each step forward. Share this episode with someone who needs encouragement today, and remember: through Christ, all things are possible.

Speaker 1:

Did you know? Everybody gets down. Did you know everybody is not? This world gets us down. It's not all fun and games, positivity. Every day you have to get up and face this world.

Speaker 1:

Psalms, chapter 12, the author talks about how he's feeling down, but in verse 11, he questions himself why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God. That's Psalms 42, 11. I mean, there are times when you have to ask yourself the hard questions why am I angry? Why am I disappointed? Why am I heartbroken?

Speaker 1:

There are times also when you have to preach to yourself, remembering who God is and who he's called you to be. He is the God of gods. It's so easy to forget that one simple thing that you have to actually remind yourself daily. Food for thought, which brings me back to this. Pray, because God hears your prayers. Invite him to meet you in the midst of whatever you're dealing with, whatever problems, whatever trouble, whatever downfall you might have in your life. Nothing is off limits to God. So pray about anything. John 15, verse 7. If you remain me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish and it will be done. That's pretty amazing.

Speaker 1:

Romans, chapter 1, verse 20. For since the creation of the world, god's invisible qualities, his eternal power and divine nature have been clearly seen being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. So basically what he's saying here, folks, is there is no excuse. You have no excuse. You have no excuse. Philippians 4.13 says I can do all things through him, who strengthened me. I can do all things through him who strengthens me. Philippians 4.13. Which means nothing is impossible for God, and God is close to anyone who believes in him. So all you have to do is take a moment to talk to God and tell him what's on your mind.

Speaker 1:

Food for thought. I want you to repeat after me right now I thank God because, even when I deserve nothing, god gave me everything. How true is that? How true is that? How true is that? Are you breathing life this morning? Are you starving? Probably not. God bless you. And food for thought.

Speaker 1:

Did you know that you could be so busy that you can miss God's blessings? You can be so wrapped up in this world, hustling for paper, whatever it is you might be doing that you think you should be doing, that you might miss, be missing God's blessing. Did you know that? You know the acronym for busy? I'm going to hit y'all real hard right now.

Speaker 1:

The acronym for busy is buried under Satan's yoke. That's what Satan wants you to do. God wants you to spend time with him in his word, in prayer, communicating with God. I'm not saying you got to do it all day, but I'm saying if you're too busy, buried under Satan's yoke, then you might miss God's blessing. Food for thought. The devil wants you in your feelings, because if he can keep you in your feelings, he can keep you out of your purpose. Yeah, he'll stir the offense up, he'll magnify the fear, which is false evidence appearing real and real. He'll push insecurity, because emotions can cloud your vision and a cloudy vision delays obedience to God. You are not called to be led by feelings. You are called to be led by the spirit That'll preach Food for thought. I want to tell you a story and I want to go back to the acronym for busy, buried under Satan's yoke.

Speaker 1:

There's a story in the Bible about two sisters. Jesus once visited the home of his friends, martha and Mary, the sisters of Lazarus, while Mary busily prepared for the meal and played the part of the good hostess, her sister, mary, sat at Jesus' feet and listened to his teaching. Martha, who was preparing, got frustrated and said to Jesus Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself. Tell her to help me. And that's Luke, chapter 10, verse 40. Martha, martha, the Lord replied you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed, or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is, and it will not be taken away from her. That's Luke, chapter 10, verse 41 and 42.

Speaker 1:

The Bible says that Martha was distracted by her preparations, which kept her from the most important thing being with Jesus. Martha was busy, she was busy. Often, in a moment, you feel like you think you've got yourself focused on the right thing. Return that text, replying to that phone call, chasing that dollar, chasing that dollar, answering that message, but guess what? That's the thing that keeps you from the most important thing. It's warfare, guys, and it's real Food for thought. Busy, buried under Satan's yoke. Food for thought. I love you, god bless, holy, holy, holy Lord, god Almighty.

Speaker 2:

Lord, god Almighty. Lord, god Almighty, yes, you are holy. Holy Lord, god Almighty. Hallelujah to the King of Kings. Hallelujah to the King of Kings.

Speaker 1:

Hey guys, I just want to let you guys know that, especially you guys that are young, in your 20s, trying to figure life out, trying to figure out what your purpose in life is and you don't have to be in your 20s. You can be my age. I'm 50 years old and I still have problems every day trying to figure out my purpose. All I know is I try to stay in prayer, I try to stay prayed up, I try to give God all the glory in everything I do and that's all I can do. But I'm 50 years old and I still have struggled trying to figure out my purpose. I just know that God wins in this life and you can find motivation in that, because through Christ you can do all things. God bless you no-transcript.
